Welcome to another Medical Minutes.
Today, I’m going to do something a little different for our medical minute. I’m going to bring you a recipe. It’s a break from our normal, but hopefully it’ll be a lot of fun. So one of my goals as a physician in weight loss is to make eating fun and healthy for all of my patients. So this is one of my favorites. For Arizona in those days, when it’s over 110, like this summer.
The recipe for today is healthy, protein based ice cream.
You only need a few ingredients and of course, an ice cream maker. So here they are. I hope you enjoy. Today’s recipe only uses two ingredients, an OPTIFAST High Protein Chocolate Shake because of course, chocolate is my favorite and then 12 ounces of water. And I guess there is one third thing is the Cuisinart ice cream maker.
In step one, all I do is add the chocolate powder into 12 ounces of water, and I like to blend it.
In step two, I just add the chocolate shake into the ice cream machine and turn it on.
This is at four minutes. This is at five minutes. This is at about six minutes. This is at about seven minutes and you can see that it’s really getting thick now. At about 7.5 minutes and you can see it really getting thick inside the ice cream maker. I think it probably only needs about another minute. Looks pretty much done to me.
When you first take it out of the ice cream maker, it’s very, very thick. You clear off the spatulas, and look at that ice cream. Scoop it into a bowl.
The ice cream maker takes somewhere between eight and 11 minutes. I leave it in the freezer so that it’s ready to go. The next time I need it. And here it is finished
OPTIFAST High Protein ice cream, 26 grams of protein, only 10 grams of carbohydrate and chocolatey and delicious.
I’ll see you next week. Maybe I’ll have another recipe then.
Bye bye.
